Pack722 Announcements: Sept 2025

Welcome Back Pack Meeting / Kickoff (lots of detail, please read) 

September 12th, 6:30pm to 7:30pm 

September Pack meeting:   It's time to kick off another exciting year of adventures, learning, and fun with our Pack 722 Cub Scout family! Whether you're a returning member or joining us for the first time, we've got all the important topics and questions covered.

Time: 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Location: United Methodist Church at 273 Vernon St, Wakefield, MA 01880


Agenda  (may change a little):

  • Warm up game - Look for Leader Beth! 

  • Flags (AOL Scouts to do flag ceremony and scout law/oath) 

  • Welcome Back Slideshow, Highlights from last year (Fun to see fellow scouts "up on the big screen" )

  • Meet your Leaders for 2025/2026 (Put some names to faces) 

  • Trips planned for 2026 (We have some exciting stuff planned) 

  • Quick touch on Fundraising (How the scouts make it all happen!) 

  • Info Tables - Logistics of Renewing and Dues 

  • Pack Event led by Cubmaster Eric!!!


Tables set-up in the back of the meeting:

  • Info Table  - We'll have a table set up for Frequently Asked Questions, including Registration Dates, Costs, Dues, and more. For additional details, see this LINK

  • Scout Swap Table  - Want to skip the Scout Store??? Bring any old Scout uniforms, class B shirts for an upgrade in size, or apparel that you would like to trade or swap with other Scouts.

 

Returning Scouts, a friendly reminder to wear your Class A uniforms. 

As for our new Scouts and friends, there's no action or sign up required on your end – just come as you are, we will have more details on site.

Fishing By the Lake! - Pack 722 Fishing Derby & Bring a Friend!

September 20th at 9am

Gather your fishing gear and join us for a fin-tastic day by the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or it's your first time holding a rod, this event promises a reel good time for all. There will be some prizes and fun for the largest and most caught. 🎣🌊


Date: Sept 20th 

Time: 9am to about 11am

Location: Lake Quannapowitt, by the Stone Church and Playground

What to Bring: 

  • Kids under the age of 15 do not need a fishing license. 

  • Bring fishing gear if you have some - or a stick with line works too! 

  • The pack provides worms and corn for bait. 


This is also a great chance to earn your fishing adventure loops, please ask your Den leaders.

Arrow of Light Weekend at Milton Basecamp 

September 27th - 28th 

Arrow of Light (AOL) Weekend is an event put on by the Order of the Arrow / Pennacook Lodge. This event's goal is to provide Arrow of Light Scouts a taste of what camping in Scouts BSA is like, to earn AOL skills, and for all attendees to have an awesome weekend!


Date: Sept 27th - 28th  

Time: 8:00 AM 

Participation: Limited to Arrow of Light Scouts (not a full pack event).

Location: Basecamp at Milton MA

Program Highlights: - Arts & Music - Archery & BBs - Cooking - Nature & Scoutcraft - First Aid & STEM - Campfire Program - Two dining hall meals, all programs, special t-shirt & certificate included! - And Much More!!!!

Fall Camping Trip - Sudden Pond

The crisp air, the crackling campfire, and the joy of exploring the outdoors together – it's that time of the year again! We're excited to invite you all to our much-anticipated Annual Fall Camping Trip to Sudden Pond in Harold Parker Forest.

Pack Summer August Event -  Pack Bowling & Pizza!!!

Aug 16th, 12pm to 2pm 

We're bringing this Pack favorite back into the rotation—come roll with us!

Candlepin bowling is a New England classic, and unlike traditional bowling, the pins are tall and skinny, and the balls fit in your hand—no finger holes - no bumpers! It's trickier than it looks, but that's part of the fun. We'll follow it up with some pizza  and good times with friends.


Date: Aug 16th 12pm to 2pm

Location: Wakefield Bowladrome, 92 Water St, Wakefield

Dress: Class B

What to bring: 

  • Scouts Bowl for free! 

  • If siblings or parents want to join in, it's $10 per person (CASH ONLY)

  • Big smiles and scout spirit, this is candlepin bowling… no bumpers, but all fun!

Happy Summer, Pack 722!

As we welcome the sunshine and warmer days, our regular pack meetings are taking a break until September. But the fun isn't stopping, pack activities will continue in a more relaxed style. We've got some great summer events planned Check them out below and join the adventure! One for Every month! 

Don't forget—the Summertime Award patch/ loop is active!
Scouts who take part in three pack activities from May, June, July, and August can earn this special award. Let's keep the Scouting spirit going all summer long!


Pack Hike - Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary  

June 28th at 9.30am  

Join us for a fun and relaxing family hike at the beautiful Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a great opportunity for scouts and their families to enjoy nature together. The sanctuary is known for its friendly birds. Chickadees and other small birds land on steady hands holding bird seed!


Time and Meetup:

  • Time & Date: Saturday, June 28, at 9:30 AM

  • Location: Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield, MA 01983

  • Meeting Spot: Picnic tables next to the large field near the visitor center

  • Parking: Limited; early arrival is recommended as the lot fills quickly.


Hike Details:

  • Route: We'll hike down the hill On the Rockery Trail and follow the trail around the pond to the Rock Grotto. Trail Map Download  Ipswich River Trail Map (PDF)

  • Duration & Difficulty: Approximately 1 hour; low-intensity, suitable for all ages.

  • What to Bring: Water bottle, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, small bag of bird seed (Pack 722 will provide) The sanctuary is known for its friendly birds. Chickadees and other small birds land on steady hands holding bird seed!


Sign up Information:

  • The Pack will cover the cost of admission best we can for scouts and parents. If numbers get large we may need to adjust this pricing as the date gets closer. Please use the Sign up below. Additional passes can be purchased at the front lobby if needed Adults: $7, Seniors: $4, Children (2–12): $4 and Free for Mass Audubon members

  • After the group hike, feel free to explore the rest of the sanctuary—your admission is valid all day.

Marching in the Wakefield 4th of July Parade 

July 4th, 3pm

Pack 722 is excited to participate in the 4th of July parade. If you haven't been to the parade before, it is amazingly fun. Being in a parade is a requirement for some scout ranks and will count as a July activity toward your Summertime Fun adventure loop. 


Date: July 4th, 3pm

Location: Galvin Middle School, Pack 722 Parade Map & info here 

Dress: Class A Uniform and Hat if you have one. Generally, it is hot so dress for the weather.

What to bring: 

  • Sunscreen

  • Water

  • Maybe a snack

  • Good walking shoes

  • Optional: Wagon(s) to pull behind the group. This is handy for carrying water, rain gear, etc., and can be decorated with flags or ribbons.

  • A ball, frisbee, or other item to pass the time while Scouts wait to be called to march by staff

Summer July Event - Rockets by the Lake!

July 19th 10:00 – 11:00 AM

Join us for a summer blast-off with Pack 722! We'll be launching water rockets, playing some outdoor games, and enjoying the summer sunshine by the lake. This is a great event to bring a friend who wants to see what Cub Scouts is all about.


Date: Saturday, July 19,  10:00 – 11:00 AM

Location: Lake Quannapowitt Lower Common (grassy area near Church Street)

Dress: Class B

What to bring: 

  • A plastic 1 or 2-liter soda bottle (empty)

  • Water bottle for drinking

  • Sunscreen

  • A towel (optional)

  • Your friend who might want to try Cub Scouts!
