Pack Meeting/Registration

Just a reminder that this Thursday, October 18th at 6:30 pm will be our next Pack meeting held at the Church Hall.  Please arrive on time as we have a guest speaker this week.  Make sure to wear your Class A uniforms!

It is extremely IMPORTANT that we receive the contact form sheets by Thursday.  If you have lost yours, a blank form is attached.  We must have this information in order to accurately track your child's advancements in the new Scoutbook application.

At Thursday's meeting, we will be collecting registration fees - $95 for each scout and $85 for each additional scout per family.  As always we accept cash and checks made out to Pack 722.  In addition, we will be accepting credit card payments that include a convenience fee totaling $98.00/$88.00 respectively.  The up charge covers the credit card companies fees.

See you on Thursday!

The site will officially open up at 2 on Friday, October 5th.

Things of Note:

  • Bring your fishing poles
  • Bring camp chairs if you have them.
  • You do not have to camp out in order to participate in Saturday den activities, dinner, and/or campfire program.
  • When parking near the campsite, be aware there areas where the ground drops off from the road a few inches.
  • Due to current lily pad growth, we will not be providing canoes this year.
  • There are still plenty of slots available for dinner's sign up - Click here to sign-up! The Pack will supply hot dogs, water, plates, napkins, hand sanitizer and utensils.

Each night we ask that only 1 campfire be lit - the main Pack campfire.
This year we will be sectioning off an area for whittling.

Only Scouts who have earned their Whittling Chip, and bring it with them, may bring a knife.  It can only be used inside the reserved area.

Schedule For Saturday:

  • Den Activities between 11-4 - Please check with your den leaders for specific times!
  • Dinner: 5:30 pm
  • Campfire Program: 7 pm
Here are the directions to the site:
Sudden Pond is in Harold Parker State Forest on the border of North Reading and North Andover, MA

From Wakefield, proceed through the 129 rotary and follow Haverhill Street through Reading to North Reading Center. Go straight through the light for approximately 1.5 miles, and take a right at the blinking yellow light onto Marblehead Street. Follow Marblehead Street for about 1.5 miles, and turn left onto Salem Street -- you should see a small brown sign on the Right pointing Left to Harold Parker State Forest.  If you pass a sign that indicates the border of North Reading and Middleton, you've gone too far.
From Salem Street, you will be turning right at Gate 7. If you're setting your GPS or an App like WAZE, the closest street address to the gate is the Forest Riding Academy, 33 Salem Street, North Reading, MA 01864-1513, or Sudden Pond Fire Road, North Reading, MA  Turn right at Gate 7 and follow the road to the campsite, which will be on your right.

Looking forward to a great weekend!

Start of the Year & Youth Protection Training - YPT

School is just around the corner, which means it is time to start our favorite activity of the school year - SCOUTS!

For those of you who are new, don't worry we will walk you through everything.  Do not hesitate to contact any leader or committee member with questions.

Our first official Pack meeting of the year will be on Thursday September 20th at 6:30pm.  We are asking that everyone tries to aim to be at meetings 5-10 minutes before so that we can start on time.

We are in the process of updating the Pack Calendar with our tentative dates for the year.  Please remember, we try our best not to change dates around, but sometimes items arise that mandate us to make changes (sometimes with little warning).

Re-registration/New Scout Signup

In order to help shorten our 1st pack meeting of the year, we will be at the church on Monday September 10th from 5:30-7:30 to collect dues.  This year we are keeping the dues the same $95 for the 1st Scout and $85 for each additional Scout.  This includes all council fees.  Also, if you know anyone who wishes to join the Pack, please have them come to talk to us.  Checks to be made out to Pack 722.

Youth Protection Training (YPT)

There have been many new changes within the Boys Scouts of America (BSA) over the last year.  One of these is tightening our Youth Protection Standards.  By doing so, at every meeting we must now have 2 YPT'd individuals.  This means if one of the leaders is not able to attend the meeting we either need to cancel the meeting or have a few adults volunteer to take the 2 hour training.  The training is good for 2 years and is free.  Typically, you can take the training at anytime online.

Fortunately, we were able to secure an in-person training session on Monday September 10th from 6-8 in the Vestry (main level of church).  We know that some of you would not be able to attend due to child care purposes, so as long as your child is 4 years old and potty trained, we will have leaders on hand to watch a movie with them on the 3rd floor.  We would appreciate any and all who would be able to attend this training session.  This is a great way to volunteer to help the Pack without much commitment.

Looking forward to a great year of Scouting!

Your Pack Committee

Cub Scout Registration

Good Afternoon!

Again we want to thank you for showing interest in having your child join Cub Scouts.  We delayed this registration email as National was preforming some updates to the website, and we apologize if you were waiting.

We’re excited that you are joining Pack 722. Please take a moment to register your son or daughter online at the following site https://my.bsa.us/227paa0722mb .

When you get to the part of the application process that asks for payment, select “pay by cash/check.”  See picture below.

Please note that the amount that appears on the screen is only the National Registration fees, and doesn’t include our local dues.  Total registration fees for the year is currently $95 and will be collected at the first Pack meeting in September.

You can start to get your Uniforms and Level books at the Scout Store in Woburn.  Their address is:

600 W Cummings Park
Ste 1250
Woburn, MA 01801
Our uniform requirements for Tigers, Wolf, Bear and Webelos - are the Blue Shirt (unless they are a Webelos they have the option for a tan shirt), Neckerchief, Slide, and Belt (this is where they hold their advancements).  The hat is optional, most kids wear it, but it is not a requirement.  We also do not require the pants but do ask that they arrive in meeting dressed in a manner respecting the uniform.
For Lions, we require only the T-Shirt, belt and the Hat.  No neckerchief.
Just a reminder, we have our next Pack event next Saturday at the Sullivan Park for a park clean up service project followed by a game of kickball.  We do not recommend any uniforms for this event.
Please do not hesitate contacting us if you have any questions regarding the registration process.  Looking forward to a great scout year.
Yours In Scounting (YIS)
Your Pack Committee
