Community Opportunities for Scouts

The Quannapowitt Yacht Club Youth Sailing Program (YSP) provides a safe, encouraging environment for students to learn to sail, to develop sailing skills, or to learn to race. The YSP focuses on the fun, enjoyment, accomplishment and self-confidence that comes from learning to sail. Our instruction is based on the US SAILING curriculum, and is carried out in age- and skill-appropriate groupings. We also plan whole-group activities that encourage social interactions and friendships among the students. Students learn skills that will form the foundation for a lifelong love of sailing. They will also learn the proper use and care of boats, sails, moorings and the docking area. Safety standards are taught and strictly enforced.

The program is open to children ages 8-13 (entering 3rd - 8th grades). Our fleet includes boats appropriate for various skill levels. Children are placed in a boat according to their size and sailing experience. For complete information visit https://sailqyc.com/page/youth-sailing-2024-dates-announced
