Pinewood Derby - IMPORTANT INFORMATION & RULES

Good Morning Pack,

Attached you will find this year's Pinewood Derby rules.  If you have any questions, please first go to your den leader.  If additional information is needed, please let me know.

At weigh in, if your scout's car does not meet one of the requirements, we will ask you to fix it prior to being allowing to finalize check in on Friday night.  These rules are important so that if everyone is on an equal playing field.  In addition, should you win for your rank level, you will then be able to move on to Districts and maybe Nationals.

Derby Workshop
Our annual Pinewood Derby Workshop is Saturday, January 25.  No Uniforms are required.

Times are broken down by Den:

o   Lions/Tigers-       Any time

o   Wolfs                    9:00 to 10:00

o   Bears                    10:00 to 11:00

o   AOL/Webelos     11:00 to 12:30

o   Anyone                12:30 to 1:30

The address is 38 Wiley St, which runs off of Water St. Go around back to the basement bulkhead.

Ideally your scout should have a design in mind, but we can help with ideas if necessary.  You won't finish the car at the workshop but you'll get a head start on it.

If you did not receive your pinewood kit at the Pack Meeting, check with your Den Leader so we can get it to you.  For anyone interested in racing in the family race, we do have a few extra kits available for sale or you can purchase one at the Scout Shop.

Weigh In
The Derby Weigh In will be Friday March 6th.  Time information will follow but please note, no cars will be allowed to be checked in on Saturday March 7th (derby day).  All cars will be kept overnight at the church.  If you personally cannot attend the weigh in, please give your car to someone who can check it in for you.  No Uniforms are required.

No car can weigh more that 5 ounces. The Pack uses one scale to record the Official weight. All cars are checked in using that one scale to keep things even.  We will have a few tools and graphite to make minor adjustments to your cars if necessary.

Derby Day
Our Annual Derby will be held at the Church on Saturday March 7th.  Races are held by den.  Please make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time, we do not wait for everyone to arrive.  This is a Class A uniform event.  We will have a Concession Stand.  Even if you cannot attend the day, your car can race!
