Pinewood Derby!

Good Afternoon Pack,

Attached you will find this year's Pinewood Derby rules.  If you have any questions, please first go to your den leader.  If additional information is needed, please let me know.

At weigh in, if your scout's car does not meet one of the requirements, we will ask you to fix it prior to being allowed to finalize check in on Friday night.  These rules are important so that if everyone is on an equal playing field.  In addition, should you win for your rank level, you will then be able to move on to Districts and maybe Nationals.

Derby Workshop
Our annual Pinewood Derby Workshop is Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24.  No Uniforms are required.  The address is 38 Wiley St, which runs off of Water St. Go around back to the basement bulkhead.

Ideally your scout should have a design in mind, but we can help with ideas if necessary.  You won't finish the car at the workshop but you'll get a head start on it.If you did not receive your pinewood kit check with your Den Leader so we can get it to you.  For anyone interested in racing in the family race, we do have a few extra kits available for sale or you can purchase one at the Scout Shop.

If you would like to attend, please SIGN UP HERE https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094CA9AC2BA0F58-derby .  To make sure that we are keeping a safe atmosphere, sign up for a 20 minute slot. We are allowing only 2 scouts per time slot.  Please show up on time, with your design ready and only the scout and 1 adult in attendance.   If none of these times work , please reach out and we will work with you.

Weigh In
The Derby Weigh In will be Friday March 5th.  Time information will follow but please note, no cars will be allowed to be checked in on Saturday March 6th (derby day).  All cars will be kept overnight at the church.  If you personally cannot attend the weigh in, please give your car to someone who can check it in for you.  No Uniforms are required.

No car can weigh more than 5 ounces. The Pack uses one scale to record the Official weight. All cars are checked in using that one scale to keep things even.  We will have a few tools and graphite to make minor adjustments to your cars if necessary.

Derby Day
Our Annual Derby will be held at the Church on Saturday March 6th.  Races are held by den.    Currently we are looking at holding a virtual race, but the details are still being worked out.

Looking forward to a great race season.

YIS,

Your Pack Committee
